I really don’t follow this lesson. When the trigger price remains $2.00 below the lowest price, how can it ever be touched? I would expect the trigger price to follow the market price downward with an addition of $2.00 on top of the market price. When market price drops to $94.50, triggering at $96.50. Then market jumps up a little to $95.50, not triggering. Then falling to $94.20, trigger price to $96.20. Suppose market price then recovering to above $96.20, triggering at $96.20. Suppose you could get your stock at around $96.20-$96.50, about $1.50-$1.80 below the initial price of $98.00(!)

In reply to Dan. Hi Dan, I've been trying to first find, then failing that, recreate this type of order for ages now. It's called a Trailing Take Profit order, and despite my best efforts, I can't for the life of me figure out why ARC is preventing it's users from implementing it. Too profitable is the only answer I can come up with!!?! If as you point out, ARC removed this, did you ever get an answer as to why they did that? Their tech support is SO impenetrable, it makes me not even bother to try and get an answer out of them most of the time. I think that's intentional. Disappointing. Cheers. SB

Even more useful than this order type, was placing alerts for price drops, and placing BUY TRAIL orders when the price hit the drop level. However, IB removed this capability from TWS in January 2026. What is the recommended alternative workflow?

the first occurance of 94,50 in the first column is commented as “market rises” but the change from 96 to 94,50 is not a market rise
